WARDOGS release date: 10 September 2026 on Steam Early Access — the time zones, the road to it, and when 1.0 and consoles come

The WARDOGS release date is 10 September 2026 — the day it entered Steam Early Access for Windows at $39.99. That date was set publicly on 11 August, held, and marked by a launch trailer post at 10:24 UTC that also carried the only console statement so far: 'COMING TO CONSOLES IN 2028.' There is no announced date for version 1.0; BULKHEAD's estimate is 'around 1 to 2 years' of Early Access.

This page gives the dates as the sources give them, the launch-day timeline in UTC, and the milestones that led there. Searches for 'wardogs release time est/cst/pst' are answered below by converting the posted UTC times; BULKHEAD did not publish a single 'unlock time'.

The date, and how it was announced

11 August 2026, 'PRE-ORDER NOW!': 'WARDOGS is launching into Steam Early Access on 10th September, with pre-orders live RIGHT NOW, which grants guaranteed access to our Closed Beta on 21 August.' The date was repeated in the 8 September anti-cheat post ('ahead of WARDOGS Early Access launch on September 10th') and confirmed on the day: 'RELEASING ON STEAM EARLY ACCESS TODAY.' The Steam listing's release date field reads 'Sep 10, 2026'.

Before that, the studio had said only 'Early Access later this year' (6 June gameplay trailer post) and, in February, 'we have a long road to Steam Early Access'.

For the record, the Steam feed's timestamps are the only precise clock the launch has: BULKHEAD never posted an unlock hour, so every 'release time' page that gives one to the minute is inferring it from Steam's region unlock, not quoting the studio. We give the trailer post's 10:24 UTC as the earliest official 'it is out'.

The three dates that matter, and the one that does not exist

Early Access release: 10 September 2026 — happened. Console release: 2028 — announced, no detail. Full (1.0) release: not announced — BULKHEAD's Steam Q&A gives 'around 1 to 2 years' of Early Access, which is an estimate, not a date, and the studio says 'the exact duration may change depending on how development and community feedback evolves'. There is no fourth date. Season 2 has no date; the next patch has no date; the planned price steps have no dates. The Steam feed is where each will appear first, and the patch-notes hub on this site reads it.

A note on the word 'release'. Steam's listing field says 'Release Date: Sep 10, 2026' and the store treats Early Access launch as release. Press and players sometimes reserve 'release' for 1.0. When a search asks 'wardogs full release date', it is asking for the 1.0 date, and the honest answer is a range: September 2027 to September 2028 on BULKHEAD's estimate.

Launch day in UTC — and in your time zone

BULKHEAD did not post a countdown or an unlock hour. What the Steam feed records: pre-load and the Season 1 changelog at 22:46 UTC on 9 September; the launch trailer post at 10:24 UTC on 10 September; the Launch Stability Hotfix #1 at 20:20 UTC the same day; '1.25 MILLION COPIES SOLD!' at 01:05 UTC on 11 September. The game was live by the trailer post. Converting 10:24 UTC: 03:24 PDT, 06:24 EDT, 11:24 BST, 12:24 CEST, 19:24 JST, 20:24 AEST.

For most players the practical release time was later than the unlock, because the login queue was the story of the day. PCGamesN's studio interview: 45,590 in game, 168,000 in the queue, about ten of every hundred admissions per second succeeding, and a hotfix that forced every client to restart and re-queue before players were let in 'in sets of 10,000'. The servers page tells that story in full.

Pre-load: 9 September, 22:46 UTC

The day before release, BULKHEAD posted 'Pre-Load Live & Season 1 Changelog' at 22:46 UTC — 15:46 PDT, 18:46 EDT, 23:46 BST. Pre-loading the 50 GB install was possible from then, and the changelog attached to the post rewrote the beta's XP curve, prices and unlock levels. For anyone tracking 'wardogs preload' or 'wardogs pre download', that is the date and time. The beta client, 'WARDOGS Playtest', had been a separate Steam app since 3 July and was not the release build.

Two other posts frame the run-up. On 3 September 2026 the studio appeared at The FPS Games Show (18:00 UTC on Twitch) promising 'a HUGE announcement that no one will see coming'; the Steam feed does not record what it was, and the next Steam post is the open-beta notice two days later. And the 8 September '11th Reason' post confirmed the date a final time — 'WARDOGS Early Access: September 10th' — while pointing players at the $100K clip contest and the three community-server hosts.

Insider Gaming's launch report (Grant Taylor-Hill, 10 September) gives the unlock as 4 pm UTC — 09:00 PDT, 12:00 EDT, 17:00 BST — which fits the developer forum thread's first rate-limit note at 5 pm UTC. The trailer post at 10:24 UTC preceded the unlock; treat 16:00 UTC as the release time.

Seven months from reveal to release

9 February 2026: announcement trailer — 'over 10m+ views' across social media and a Discord of '10k+ members'. 10 February: 100,000 wishlists 'in just 3 days'. 18 February: 'over 200,000 wishlists'. 26 May: 500,000. 6 June: gameplay trailer at the Future Games Show and 'Early Access later this year'. 23 July: first livestream. 11 August: pre-orders, date announced, Supporter Edition. 14 August: one million wishlists, 'six months after revealing WARDOGS to the world'. 21–23 August: closed beta. 3 September: FPS Games Show. 5–6 September: open beta. 10 September: Early Access.

PCGamesN reported 1.5 million copies sold by 12 September and SteamDB a 400,196 concurrent peak the same day. For a game announced seven months earlier by a studio whose previous public presence was a sign-up page, that curve is the reason so many people are searching for its release date after the fact.

What was live on the day

PCGamesN's report on the Season 1 notes gives the launch roster: '37 weapons, 27 vehicles, and three maps'. BULKHEAD's Steam Q&A describes the state as 'fully playable' with the 100-player three-team mode, dynamic Control Zones, cash and XP progression, vehicles, logistics and proximity voice. The 6 June gameplay trailer post had put the development time at '3+ years… making the game we wanted to play with our mates'. What was not live: consoles (2028), Linux support (in progress), fighter jets and the seasonal metagame (planned), and — for most of the first evening — the servers, until Hotfix #1 cleared the queue.

Full release: no date, a range, and a price plan

The Steam Early Access Q&A: 'We expect WARDOGS to remain in Early Access for around 1 to 2 years. We are adamant that we do not want to be in Early Access for a long time.' That puts version 1.0 somewhere between September 2027 and September 2028 if the estimate holds, with no date committed. PCGamesN adds the price plan attached to that path: $39.99 now, 'gradually increase the price to $49.99 and eventually $59.99 by the time version 1.0 releases.'

What arrives before 1.0 is seasonal. The changelog says each season gets 'a different XP curve with different item orders', and patch 0.11 refers to Season 2 content already in work. No Season 2 date is given.

Console release date

The whole official statement is four words in the launch trailer post: 'COMING TO CONSOLES IN 2028.' The 3 March 2026 'Answering Your Questions' post lists 'Console Release?' as a topic of its video, but the Steam post itself gives no answer. No platform (Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, or successors) is named anywhere in the feed, on wardogs.com or on the Steam listing. 'Wardogs xbox release date' and 'wardogs ps5 release date' therefore have the same answer: 2028, platform unspecified. The console page has the Linux, Steam Deck and mobile status alongside.

Was there a midnight or staggered release?

'Wardogs midnight release', 'wardogs est release time' and 'wardogs exact release time' were all live searches in launch week. The Steam feed shows no announced unlock hour and no regional stagger: the studio's only same-day posts were the 10:24 UTC trailer ('RELEASING ON STEAM EARLY ACCESS TODAY') and the 20:20 UTC hotfix. Steam itself unlocks a game when the developer flips it, and BULKHEAD did not publish the moment. If you want a release 'time' for the record, 10:24 UTC on 10 September 2026 is the earliest official confirmation that it was out.

Dates that get confused with the release date

3 July 2026 — the 'WARDOGS Playtest' app's Steam date; that is the beta client, not the game. 21 August — Closed Beta 01, pre-orders only. 3 September — the FPS Games Show, where BULKHEAD promised 'a HUGE announcement that no one will see coming' (the Steam feed does not say what it was). 5 September — the open beta. 9 September — pre-load. 10 September — release. 14 September — patch 0.11 maintenance. If a site lists any of the earlier dates as the release, it is describing a test.
